The rock type dolomite is named after the French geologist Déodat de Dolomieu. Until the 18th century, the mountains were still called "Bleiche Berge" or "Monti Palladi". The color of the dolomite rock is due to its chemical composition and carbonate content. However, the Dolomites are predominantly composed of limestone, so alongside ivory-colored and light gray, yellowish or greenish rocks, a lot of gray-white stone is also found in the Dolomites. Our Dolomites photo art depicts all the color variations of the mountains, Dolomites wall art from sunrise, photo art of Seceda and Co. at sunset, stylish Dolomites art prints in black and white or as color photos, as well as with various lighting conditions.
Parts of the Dolomites have enjoyed UNESCO World Heritage status since 2009. However, in our fantastic Dolomites prints, all the mountain ranges of the Dolomites leave a lasting impression! At 3,342 meters high, the Marmolata is the highest peak in the Dolomites. The name derives from its resemblance to marble, but anyone thinking of Marmota or marmot isn't entirely wrong: Indeed, these animals have been resettled in a national park in the Dolomites. Marmots are essential for the ecosystem of the high mountain meadows. Other well-known peaks and mountain ranges of the Dolomites include the Three Peaks, the Rosengarten, or the Sella, all of which provide popular motifs.
Just as the colors alternate in the Dolomites on our art prints, the rock itself is also very diverse. The character of the Dolomites is determined by abrupt changes: sharp ridges sit on the gentle waves of the alpine meadows, while distinct terraces are evident. In contrast, rugged masses such as the Rosengarten or the Sextner Dolomites, caused by different layers of rock, provide a counterpoint. The versatile Dolomites photo art in our gallery can be brought home as various art prints on different materials. Vibrant colors are particularly effective as acrylic glass pictures, a wide panorama or rugged rock can unfold as a freely floating Alu Dibond wall picture, and for nature motifs, you might consider a canvas print. Incidentally, this also combines excellently with a natural wood frame. Of course, you can also buy each motif as a poster or order it framed with a mat.
